The Uganda invoice generator pre-loads the correct currency (UGX) and the local tax rate (18% VAT), supports both Arabic & English with proper layout, runs entirely in your browser so your customer information stays on your device, and exports a clean A4 PDF you can email or print. There is nothing to install, no account is required for the core flow, and during our launch phase every tool is free.

MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money carry an enormous share of Uganda's payments, and small businesses routinely collect invoice payments through mobile money merchant codes, while Kampala's corporate sector pays by bank transfer. An invoice from a VAT-registered supplier is expected to be an EFRIS document with its QR code — buyers have learned to check, since only EFRIS invoices support their input VAT claims. Terms of 30 days are typical in the formal sector, with government payments often slower, and cash still dominates upcountry trade. Regional invoicing within the East African Community frequently switches to US dollars, with the shilling used for domestic billing.
Step 1. Open the Uganda invoice generator. Currency and tax are pre-loaded for you. Fill in your business details and logo; signed in, the company profile you save under Settings fills them in for you.
Step 2. Add your customer and your line items. Quantity, unit price and tax update the totals automatically. Switch language between Arabic & English as needed; Xuvilo flips the layout to RTL or LTR for you.
Step 3. Click "Download PDF". Your Uganda invoice is generated as a print-ready A4 file in UGX, ready to email to the client or attach to your accounting system.
Uganda applies 18% VAT on most invoiced goods and services, so Xuvilo defaults the tax rate to 18% VAT on the Uganda invoice. You can override the rate per line, exclude exempt items, or add multiple tax components if your business requires it.
The tax authority responsible for Uganda is URA (Uganda Revenue Authority). VAT registration is mandatory once annual taxable turnover exceeds UGX 150 million — verify with the URA, which also allows voluntary registration below the threshold.
Uganda mandates e-invoicing through EFRIS (Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution), live since 2021: VAT-registered businesses must issue e-invoices or e-receipts generated through EFRIS via the web portal, system-to-system integration, or the EFRIS mobile app. Each document carries a fiscal document number and QR code verifiable against URA systems, and non-EFRIS invoices are not recognised for VAT input claims. Enforcement has tightened progressively, including penalties for failure to issue EFRIS documents.
Xuvilo isn't only an invoice generator. The same business profile powers a free quotation generator for sending price quotes before a deal is signed, a free receipt generator for confirming payments after they're made, and a 859 template library for industry-specific designs. Most Uganda businesses go through quote → invoice → receipt for every project, and Xuvilo covers all three.
The standard rate is 18% on taxable supplies, with exports zero-rated. Only businesses above the UGX 150 million turnover threshold, or voluntarily registered ones, charge VAT on their invoices.
EFRIS is the URA's Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solution, mandatory for VAT-registered businesses since 2021. Invoices must be generated through EFRIS — via the portal, an integrated system or the mobile app — and carry a fiscal number and QR code, or they will not support your client's VAT deduction.
Exports of goods and services are zero-rated for VAT, and Ugandan businesses commonly invoice EAC and international clients in US dollars while billing domestically in shillings. Foreign receipts arrive by SWIFT or regional bank transfer and should still be reflected in your URA declarations.
Yes — MTN MoMo and Airtel Money merchant collections are standard for small and mid-sized invoices, and many businesses print their merchant code on the invoice itself. Larger corporate settlements move by bank transfer, but mobile money is the everyday rail.

Yes. Switch Xuvilo between Arabic (right to left) and English (left to right) at any time; each document prints in one language: Arabic when you are using Xuvilo in Arabic or have chosen an Arabic template, English otherwise; and every field accepts text in either language.
