UAE businesses pay invoices mainly by bank transfer, and the Aani instant payment platform operated by Al Etihad Payments is making real-time AED transfers routine alongside the traditional UAEFTS rails. Cheques remain surprisingly entrenched — post-dated cheques still secure rents and instalment deals — while payment terms of 30 to 60 days are typical in B2B trade. Invoices are commonly issued in English (Arabic is optional in most commercial practice), and the dirham's fixed peg of AED 3.6725 to the US dollar means many free-zone and consulting businesses invoice international clients directly in USD. Freelancers on free-zone permits routinely juggle AED for local clients and USD for overseas ones.
Step 1. Open the UAE invoice generator. Currency and tax are pre-loaded for you. Fill in your business details and logo; signed in, the company profile you save under Settings fills them in for you.
Step 2. Add your customer and your line items. Quantity, unit price and tax update the totals automatically. Switch language between Arabic & English as needed; Xuvilo flips the layout to RTL or LTR for you.
Step 3. Click "Download PDF". Your UAE invoice is generated as a print-ready A4 file in AED, ready to email to the client or attach to your accounting system.
UAE applies 5% VAT (FTA) on most invoiced goods and services, so Xuvilo defaults the tax rate to 5% VAT (FTA) on the UAE invoice. You can override the rate per line, exclude exempt items, or add multiple tax components if your business requires it.
The tax authority responsible for UAE is FTA (Federal Tax Authority). VAT registration is mandatory when taxable supplies and imports exceed AED 375,000 in a 12-month period, with voluntary registration available from AED 187,500 — confirm with the FTA.
The UAE has announced a national e-invoicing programme (often called the E-Billing System) built on a Peppol-based five-corner model, in which accredited service providers exchange structured invoices and report tax data to the FTA. A phased B2B and B2G mandate has been signalled to begin around 2026, with larger businesses first — timelines have shifted, so verify current dates with the Ministry of Finance and FTA. Today, VAT-registered businesses must already issue tax invoices showing their TRN (Tax Registration Number), the 5% VAT amount, and the required particulars within 14 days of the date of supply.
Xuvilo isn't only an invoice generator. The same business profile powers a free quotation generator for sending price quotes before a deal is signed, a free receipt generator for confirming payments after they're made, and a 859 template library for industry-specific designs. Most UAE businesses go through quote → invoice → receipt for every project, and Xuvilo covers all three.
The UAE applies 5% VAT, introduced in January 2018. A full tax invoice must show the words 'Tax Invoice', the supplier's name, address and TRN, an invoice date and sequential number, and the VAT amount in AED. A simplified tax invoice is allowed when the customer is not registered for VAT, or is registered and the supply is AED 10,000 or less, but not where the reverse charge applies, and not for a tax invoice issued as an electronic invoice under the UAE's e-invoicing system.
Not yet for most businesses, but the UAE is implementing a Peppol-based e-invoicing framework with accredited service providers, and a phased mandate has been announced with rollout expected from around 2026. Businesses should start ensuring their invoicing data is structured and complete now — verify the current implementation timeline with the Ministry of Finance.
Yes, foreign-currency invoicing is common, especially from free zones, but any VAT amount must also be stated in dirhams converted at the UAE Central Bank rate for the invoice date. The AED's stable peg to the US dollar keeps conversion risk minimal for USD contracts.
VAT records must generally be kept for five years after the tax period (longer for real-estate-related records). Since June 2023 the UAE also levies 9% corporate tax on business profits above AED 375,000, so invoices now feed both VAT and corporate tax compliance — keep them organised for both, and verify retention specifics with the FTA.
