French invoices carry a strict list of mentions obligatoires: SIREN/SIRET number, RCS registration, TVA intracommunautaire number, invoice date and sequential number, and mandatory late-payment clauses including a fixed EUR 40 recovery indemnity (indemnité forfaitaire) per overdue invoice. Payment is by SEPA transfer (virement), with terms legally capped at 60 days from invoice date or 45 days end-of-month; 30 days is the default when nothing is agreed. Auto-entrepreneurs below the VAT franchise must print "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI" on every invoice. Invoicing French clients is done in French and in euros almost without exception.
Step 1. Open the France invoice generator. Currency and tax are pre-loaded for you. Fill in your business details and logo; signed in, the company profile you save under Settings fills them in for you.
Step 2. Add your customer and your line items. Quantity, unit price and tax update the totals automatically. Switch language between Arabic & English as needed; Xuvilo flips the layout to RTL or LTR for you.
Step 3. Click "Download PDF". Your France invoice is generated as a print-ready A4 file in EUR, ready to email to the client or attach to your accounting system.
France applies 20% TVA on most invoiced goods and services, so Xuvilo defaults the tax rate to 20% TVA on the France invoice. You can override the rate per line, exclude exempt items, or add multiple tax components if your business requires it.
The tax authority responsible for France is Direction générale des Finances publiques (DGFiP). The franchise en base de TVA exempts small businesses below roughly EUR 37,500 for services and EUR 85,000 for goods (a proposed unified EUR 25,000 limit was suspended) — verify current thresholds with the DGFiP as they have been in flux.
France is rolling out a mandatory B2B e-invoicing and e-reporting regime: from 1 September 2026 all businesses must be able to receive e-invoices, with large and mid-sized companies obliged to issue them from the same date, and SMEs and micro-enterprises following on 1 September 2027 — verify the current timetable with the DGFiP, as dates have shifted before. Invoices will flow through accredited private platforms (plateformes de dématérialisation partenaires, PDPs), with the public portal acting as a directory. B2G e-invoicing via Chorus Pro has been mandatory for all government suppliers since 2020.
Xuvilo isn't only an invoice generator. The same business profile powers a free quotation generator for sending price quotes before a deal is signed, a free receipt generator for confirming payments after they're made, and a 859 template library for industry-specific designs. Most France businesses go through quote → invoice → receipt for every project, and Xuvilo covers all three.
The standard TVA rate is 20%, with reduced rates of 10%, 5.5% and 2.1% for specific goods and services. Invoices must show the rate per line, the amount of TVA due, and your numéro de TVA intracommunautaire; exempt micro-entrepreneurs must instead cite article 293 B of the CGI.
All French businesses must be able to receive e-invoices from September 2026, when large and mid-sized firms also start issuing them; smaller businesses must issue from September 2027. Invoices will pass through accredited PDP platforms, so start evaluating providers early and confirm dates with the DGFiP.
French commercial law expects invoices in French, and while a foreign currency is permitted if convertible, the TVA must be expressed in euros. Foreign suppliers commonly issue bilingual invoices, but a French-language, EUR invoice clears French accounts-payable departments far faster.
Payment terms cannot exceed 60 days from invoice date (or 45 days end-of-month), and every B2B invoice must state the penalty interest rate and the automatic EUR 40 indemnité forfaitaire owed on late payment. These mentions are legally required on the invoice itself, not just in the contract.
