What you get

Who needs an Arabic invoice

Any business whose invoice will be read, approved or audited in Arabic. In Saudi Arabia a tax invoice has to be in Arabic, and English may accompany it. Across the Gulf, Egypt, Jordan, Libya and North Africa many customers' accounts teams work in Arabic, and an invoice they can read goes to payment without a translation step. That includes suppliers and freelancers abroad who bill Arab clients, not only local companies.

What an Arabic invoice has to get right

  • Direction. Arabic reads right to left, so the whole layout mirrors, not only the words, and the table of lines starts from the right.
  • Mixed text. Product codes, IBANs, email addresses and English brand names stay left to right inside Arabic lines; check them in the preview before you send.
  • Digits. An Arabic invoice may use Western digits (123) or Eastern Arabic digits (١٢٣). Use the ones your customer's own documents use.
  • Tax. The rate depends on the country: 15% in Saudi Arabia, 5% in the UAE and Oman, 14% in Egypt and 10% in Bahrain, with a 16% general sales tax in Jordan; Kuwait, Qatar and Libya have no VAT. In Saudi Arabia and the UAE a full VAT invoice is headed Tax Invoice, written in Arabic on an Arabic invoice.
  • Decimals. The Kuwaiti, Bahraini, Jordanian, Libyan and Iraqi dinars and the Omani rial are written to three decimal places; the Saudi riyal, the dirham and the Egyptian pound to two.

How to make one in Xuvilo

  1. Open the invoice generator in Arabic. The button on this page does it, and the language switch at the top of the page changes back at any time.
  2. Choose the currency. That country's VAT rate fills into lines that have no tax yet, and you can change it on any line.
  3. Enter your business details (signed in, save them under Settings → Company profile and they fill in every new document), then the customer and each line: description, quantity and unit price.
  4. For Saudi Arabia or the UAE, put the heading Tax Invoice in the Document Title field, in Arabic on an Arabic invoice. For a Saudi simplified tax invoice, switch on the ZATCA Phase 1 QR code and enter your 15-digit VAT number.
  5. If your customer expects Eastern Arabic digits, choose them under Number Format; the PDF prints them the same way.
  6. Press Download PDF for an A4 file, or send the invoice with the WhatsApp or Email button.
